Ndukwe Kalu Foundation Program Annual General Report (AGR) 2024

The 2024 Child Online Safety, Protection, and Reporting of Abuse (COSPRA) program featured a series of pre-summit webinars, engaging 99 participants across three completed sessions

  • Webinar I (June 13, 2024) focused on digital literacy recommendations from COSPRA 2023, moderated by Olonilua Morenike, with 40 participants.
  • Webinar II (September 26, 2024) discussed safety and privacy, moderated by Busayo Balogun (NiRA), with 27 participants.
  • The final Webinar III (October 31, 2024) discussed multi-stakeholder responsibilities, moderated by Olusegun Olugbile.

The COSPRA Summit 2024, held on 26 November at the National Universities Commission (NUC) Hall, Maitama, hosted 250 in-person attendees and over 50 virtual participants, focused on Child Rights and Welfare, Privacy and Data Protection, and International Collaboration and Regulation.

The Teachers Engagement Program held on 21 August trained 38 teachers from 19 schools on online safety, with resource persons from FCT-SEB, NCC, NAPTIP, ISOC Nigeria Chapter, and GSS Jabi.

ICT Knowledge and Entrepreneurship (ICT-KEY) Interventions & Sponsorships

  • International Girls in ICT Day (April 25, 2024) – Co-hosted with ISOC Nigeria Chapter (ISOC NG), supported by NCS and ITU, trained 600 girls across Abuja, Jos, Sokoto, Yola, Lagos, and Calabar.
  • Boys & Girls in ICT/STEM Training & Hackathon (May 2024) – Hosted by High Tech Centre for Nigerian Women and Youths, trained 100 students in animation, mobile device configuration, and solar panel assembly.
  • One-day Cybersecurity Awareness & Capacity Building (September 2024) – Organized by Barr. Sam Otoboeze Foundation, focused on youth cybersecurity education.
  • Digital Literacy for Maternal & Child Health (August 2024) – Organized by PregAfrica, targeted 100 pregnant women in Lagos (later canceled due to insufficient evidence for implementation).
  • Special DIGITEST 2024 (October 15–18, 2024) – Hosted by DPI, a technology-based competition for children aged 8–16.
  • BPSR Scorecard Website Ranking Training (August 28–30, 2024) – Trained 50 government webmasters and content managers on UI/UX at BPSR.

DNS Research & Development

  • Graduate Grants – Awarded to 1 students from NW regions.
  • PhD & Research Lecturer Grants – Awarded to 1 researcher from NE regions.

The DNS Hackathon (December 3, 2024, in Lagos), organized by NKF and NiRA, aims to develop a domain name registry software tailored to Nigeria’s internet landscape.
