REMARKS BY DR. D.I. ARABI, DIRECTOR-GENERAL, DURING THE COURTESY VISIT BY OFFICIALS OF THE NDUKWE KALU FOUNDATION (NKF) ON AUGUST 13, 2024, AT THE BPSR CONFERENCE ROOM
Protocols:
- It is a pleasure to warmly welcome our esteemed partners from the Ndukwe Kalu Foundation this morning. We truly appreciate you taking the time to visit us and for your
continued interest in building and strengthening our relationship.
Good morning
- Occasions like this offer valuable opportunities for us to officially connect, exchange ideas, and explore avenues for deeper collaboration. The Bureau has long admired the impactful work that the NKF has been doing in areas such as Child Online Safety Protection and the Reporting of Abuse in Nigeria, advancing ICT knowledge and
entrepreneurship among youth, and contributing to research and development in the Domain Name System (DNS) industry. We are eager to learn more about your initiatives and to share insights into our own activities. - On behalf of the management and staff of the Bureau of Public Service Reforms, I would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the invaluable support provided by
NKF during the recent training program for webmasters and content managers in the MDAs. Your assistance played a crucial role in the success of this training, significantly
enhancing the skills and capabilities of the participants. This training ensures that government websites meet global standards, and the knowledge gained has undoubtedly
contributed to the more effective management and improvement of the MDAs’ digital platforms. - In the spirit of fostering mutual understanding and cooperation, today’s meeting presents an excellent platform for us to discuss the possibility of advancing these
synergies and identifying ways we can support each other in achieving our respective strategic goals. As a first step to strengthening the partnership, it is expected that this
meeting would engender a Memorandum of Understanding be signed between BPSR and NKF. The Key Areas for Consideration in the MoU would encompass:
i. Developing the digital skills of officers within BPSR and other Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).
ii. Building the capacity of information officers in MDAs to improve their management and communication of government information.
iii. Collaborating on initiatives related to the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms.
iv. Developing programs for mentorship and succession planning within the public service.
v. Ensuring the involvement of NKF in all BPSR-organized programs to enhance visibility and collaboration. - Before I conclude, I would like to take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt thanks to Mrs. Mary Uduma, a woman with a truly golden heart. Mrs. Uduma’s unwavering
passion for fostering a classic and world-class public service has been nothing short of inspiring. Her relentless dedication and commitment have been pivotal in the
development and operationalization of the Federal Government’s scorecard for ranking the websites of Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs). - Her invaluable contributions have not only elevated the standards of digital governance but have also set a benchmark for excellence in public service. We deeply
appreciate her tireless efforts and the profound impact she continues to make in our journey toward a more transparent and efficient public sector. Thank you, Madam, for your exemplary service and enduring commitment to the betterment of our nation’s public service. - Once again, thank you to our guests for being here today. We look forward to a fruitful discussion and hope this meeting marks the beginning of a productive and enduring partnership.
Good morning
